Employee Spotlight: Hannah Maki-Woyak
If you’ve ever wondered what happens behind the scenes before you can hit “buy tickets,” meet Hannah Maki-Woyak! Hannah's been part of Pabst Theater Group since 2007 and now serves as our Director of Ticketing, where she and her team handle everything from setting up ticket options and onsales to managing the ticketing process through the night of the event. In this Employee Spotlight, she tells us more about what goes into ticketing, her most memorable ticketing experience, and a few tips she thinks every ticket buyer should know.
If you could bring any artist here (living or dead), who would it be?
Alex Cameron, Nathan Fielder, Longmont Potion Castle
What’s one thing about your job that people would be surprised to learn?
It's a non-glamourus nerd job really. I rarely interact with the artists, and what my team and I actually do is keep the box office department running and a lot of programming/computer work to set up all the various ticket options and get shows onsale.
If a tour asked for one “must-see” spot in Milwaukee, where are you sending them?
A classic Wisconsin dive bar - not a sports bar, not a bar with a kitchen or a menu - one that looks like a residential house or is across the street from a church. Also, the frozen pizza section at Woodman's.
What’s the most memorable or unusual ticketing situation you’ve dealt with?
It happens every year, it is absurd, and it is Widespread Panic onsale day.

Is there a ticket-buying tip you wish more people knew about or something else that could make the ticket-buying process easier?
I have 3 tips for buying tickets:
-
Google "what is the difference between primary and secondary market tickets?". It will save you money and it will make you smarter. And read the sh!t you are clicking on before buying.
- Don't be afraid of seat locations that aren't in center sections, side seats provide perfectly great viewpoints and a lot of times will allow you to be closer to the stage.
- If at first it does not load, clear, clear your cache.
We’re so grateful to have Hannah as part of the Pabst Theater Group team and for everything she’s brought to our box office over the years. We appreciate all the work she and her team do behind the scenes to keep everything moving. Stay tuned for the next Employee Spotlight and get to know more of our team!
