The Ultimate Queen Celebration with Marc Martel
The Ultimate Queen Celebration is a highly theatrical, eye-popping production that incorporates 23 of the songs that Queen made famous: “We Will Rock You,” “Radio Gaga,” “We are the Champions,” “Fat Bottomed Girls,” “Another One Bites the Dust,” “Somebody to Love,” “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “Crazy Little Thing Called Love,” and many more. In a novel twist, the concert will also include a selection of songs that reflect Mercury’s interest in musical styles beyond rock – including “Ave Maria” and the great operatic aria, “Nessun Dorma” – all performed by Marc Martel as they might have been performed by Freddie Mercury. Prior to being known “as the vocal doppelganger for the Queen frontman” (The New York Times), Martel recorded and toured with the Canadian rock group Downhere for over a decade. Martel’s path changed 2011 when he submitted a video of himself covering “Somebody to Love” as part of a contest spearheaded by the members of Queen. The video landed him an appearance on the Ellen Show and he was hand-selected by Brian May and Roger Taylor of Queen to be the voice of their official tribute group “The Queen Extravaganza.” Martel has appeared on American Idol with the Queen Extravaganza and contributed vocals for the Oscar winning Queen biopic film Bohemian Rhapsody."
